Calcium carbonate is a chemical with the formula CaCO3 .It is a common substance found in rocks in all parts of the world (most notably as limestone), and is the main component of shells, snails, coal balls, pearls, and eggshells. Calcium carbonate is the active ingredient in agricultural, and is created when calcium ions in water react with carbonate ions creating lime scale. It is commonly used medicinally as calcium supplement or as an antacid, but excessive consumption can be hazardous. Calcium carbonate occurs in nature in one of three crystalline mineral forms – calcite, aragonite or vaterite and contains calcium atoms coordinated by 6 oxygen atoms,

APPLICATIONS
Calcium Carbonate M and Calcium Carbonate C are generally used in fluid-Loss-Control situations re a larger particle size than Calcium Carbonate F. Calcium Carbonate can also be added on a periodic basis for seepage control to limit losses (Loss control and leak-off) to high-permeability formations. It is practically effective when drilling with high differential pressure caused by an overbalanced condition or when drilling depleted zones.

Section 4 - First Aid Measures

Eyes:

Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower lids until no evidence of chemical remains. Get medical aid at once.

Skin:

Flush skin with plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical aid if irritation develops.

I ngestion:

Do not induce vomiting. If victim is conscious, give 2-4 glasses of water or milk. Get medical aid at once.

I nhalation:

Give artificial respiration if necessary. Move victim to fresh air. Keep victim warm and at rest. Get medical aid at once.
